October 25 thru November 6, 2010

Best Resources invites you to join Tom and Bobbi Best along with Peruvian mystic and shaman, Don Americo Yabar, in an exploration of the timeless world of Andean shamanism.

These adventures in consciousness with Don Americo are the continuation of a crucial exploration of the human spirit initiated by the elders of every tribe of humanity before the dawn of civilization. The legacy of this exploration is your inheritance from the ancestors. Doing 'The Work' with Tom and Americo offers you the means to mend the fabric of your life by reconnecting the luminous filament of your spirit with the eternal tapestry of the Great Mystery.

Americo pointing

Don Americo Yabar is internationally recognized as a mystic, shaman and visionary poet. Raised in Paucartambo, Peru, a small pueblo within the Cordillera Vilcanota in the eastern Andes, he came of age in an atmosphere of Paq'os … the shamans and mystics of the native Q'ero Indians. The Q'ero, guardians of the ancient Incan traditions, consider Don Americo a brother and a Pacharuna, a 'living bridge of feeling between cultures'. Together, Don Americo and the Q'ero travel the highest path of human consciousness and participate in energizing the spiritual domain through sacred offerings, traditional rituals, and the sacrament of everyday life. An expert in the internal and external aspects of the transformation of energy, he has shared his teaching in the U.S., Europe, Africa, and Asia as a bridge for the spiritual blossoming of the planet.

Tom and Bobbi Best have been exploring shamanism for the past thirty years in Peru, Hawaii, Mexico and the United States. Their "path of heart" has lead them to explore these ancient practices in the fields of health, spirituality, culture and personal identity. Their experience with these cultures has led them to believe that humans, individually and collectively, are at a critical threshold in their evolution, and that a 'return to the heart of the Mystery', as revealed in Peruvian mysticism, can provide an experience of our true human possibility and enable us to cross that threshold into a realm of higher human functioning.

About the Experience

waikisThese journeys to Peru are an Apocheta -- a Doorway of Initiation -- between'ordinary states' of consciousness and the 'shamanic states of consciousness' of the Great Mystery. You'll explore the connection of mystic states of consciousness related to Yachay, the power of the mind; Munay, the power of the emotions; and Yankay, the power of the body. 'Initiation' into this Work has to do with developing your ability to perceive energy, recognize where it is blocked and 'clean' the luminous filaments of your own and other's energy bodies. You will work directly with the unique configurations of universal energy we call the 'spirits of nature' and discover your pre-existing relationship to this domain.

The intent of this 'doorway' is to give you the means to move freely between the worlds and permit the fluid flow of energy in order to gain a profound connection with the Mystery.  You will travel deeply into the magic of the moment NOW. Through connection with the power of the sacred sites of Peru, you'll expand your ability to work with the energy of nature. You'll experience your ability to use intent to project your spirit beyond the limitations of this 'horizontal world' and into the 'vertical sphere' of spiritual influence. These mystic experiences are an immersion into the ancient wisdom that transcendence, mystic states and God are not the destinations of some grand journey of seeking. They are the vibrant point of being from which you begin the projection of the Spirit.

Salk'a Wasi

Itinerary

With Americo as our guide and bridge, we'll connect directly with the spiritual energy of the Andes. The sacred mountains and valleys of Peru will guide us into the heart of an ancient wisdom. In the Sacred Valley of the Urubamba, we'll visit the ancient Inca sites of Ollantaytambo, Pisac and the immense medicine wheel at Moray.   While in the Sacred Valley, we will participate in ceremony with the Q'ero Indians, learning from those masters of pure energy.  This journey will take us to Americos' 500 year old ancestral home of Salka' Wasi, the House of Undomesticated Energy', where we'll enter into ceremonial Andean village life and experience the vibrant energy of the Mollomarka Indians.

tom and americo copyA word about Americo from Tom Best  "I've embraced Don Americo as a friend and known him as a teacher for the past seventeen years. Talking about the nature of  ‘the work’ with Americo is not an easy thing to do. In that time, I've witnessed him consistently produce what scientists call coincidence and what most of us call miracles.

On an utterly still day in the heat of the Utah desert, I've witnessed Don Americo summon a cooling breeze. I've been jolted as he called the power of lightning to open the hearts of thirty people standing on a mesa at the edge of eternity. Rainbows and eagles have appeared on cue and stars have fallen from the sky. The most profound magic I've witnessed in his presence, however, is his unfailing ability to love. . . and to laugh.

I've seen Don Americo express love without hesitation in the face of much that was unlovable. I've seen him express it as hot anger in a workingman's’ cafe in Urubamba, Peru, when he tongue-lashed a waiter who put no meat in the soup of our friends because they were Indians. I've seen him laugh uproariously in the face of a student's elegantly structured defense of their self-importance, and then watched as his laughter popped the bubble of ego to let the spirit soar free.

Working with Don Americo is about working with power -- though not as we usually understand "power" as a kind of force which you can possess, and which you attempt to control in an endless struggle with the imagined onslaught of life. Rather, working with Americo is about working with power in the mystic Andean sense - power as expressed in the ineffable laws of the universe, whose sacred breath spins all things into the holy embrace of the tapestry of life. To align your own life-force with the command of power is to connect with the spiritual vitality of the Cosmos, and to step away from a life entangled in the fatal net of doubt, hesitation and fear."

Filaments of Light from Don Americo

DSC03457   "Let’s imagine ourselves like filaments, just filaments of light, just that. These filaments are going directly into the beak of the great eagle of the universe. We are nothing else but filaments of light that are feeding the great consciousness of the universe. When we arrive at this state of consciousness --superior, different, and with humility, -- then we can vision these filaments. And if we can finally vision these filaments and acquire this experience with our energy body, we become just like children sitting in the lap of a great mother, which is the Pachamama."

"What is the cosmovision of the Andean people? The Andes is filled with spirits. All the Andean world is populated by spirits, making clear that 'spirit' is a subtle and vital energy that warms life and taking into account that the being of the universe is life. LIFE! Everything has spirit. The water has a spirit, the mountain has a spirit, the stars have spirits, the wind, the father sun, the mother moon, all have spirits. And, do you know, they are families just like us! And they all have a participation in the real world. We are all implicated in Reality."

"Consciousness is not born, it never grows up, never gets old and it never dies. It is perpetual and eternal. We already know that the body gets born, grows up, does a lot of things ... and then it dies. But not consciousness. That's why in all the ancient traditions 'awakening to consciousness' is getting connected with the feeling of the eternal and of the transcendental This is the most important part of all this work. Because all the things we talk about, all the learnings we achieve, all the things that we do. . . the wind will take away. . like the leaves of autumn."

"Once on a mountain, there were some old shamans telling each other the future in the leaves of the coca. All of a sudden one of them was bringing down the spirit and when the others raised their heads everything was shiny, brilliant. What had happened? He had brought down the spirit. When you bring down the spirit, you fill yourself with light. We are nothing else but light. It is the light that is in command of the energy . . of the energy of the birth of the self to which you are both father and mother."

"To simplify, man is like a car battery. He gets discharged and he gets recharged. You lose your charge in everyday life. Routine domesticated life is a constant discharge of energy. Then you have to look to your places of power. You have to pay attention to the development of your own being. How can you develop your states of consciousness if you are dedicating more time to your neuroses than to your own life force energy? How much time do you pay attention to your anxiety, to your personal importance, to your internal dialog and your preoccupations? Who is feeding the eagle and the wolf and the mountain lion within you?"   --Americo Yabar--
